Coping with varying demand for products

Hi,
Firsty thankyou for the great website you must put a lot of hard work into it.
I sell uni text books through ebay on auction. The problem that I have is that when students start uni I have a huge demand and when its holidays no demand.
I wanted to know if there are any software products that can vary the duration of listing depending on demand. I was thinking that when a program is relisting an item if the item doesn't sell it could increse the duration of listing, or if the item does sell it decreases the duration of listing for next time.
I noticed vendio used to have a program called reviser which extended durations but ebay doesn't allow it any more.
If you could help me out it would be much appreciated because it isn't easy manually varying durations for 400 different books.
Cheers, Adam.

I read Adam's post as meaning to amend the duration at the time of listing/relisting and not whilst its running.
The good ole days of auto extending running listings are well and truly over

Sounds like a form of re-listing. Can't you just set a re-listing type profile to either drop the price or stop selling the item if it reaches a certain point?
