Vendio Launches New Free Stores Platform

Auction management solutions company Vendio Services has launched a new free eCommerce store package to beta testing.

Vendio Stores, a part of the new Vendio Platform, allows sellers to create a branded web store that showcases their products and converts shoppers to buyers.

The new Vendio Platform manages selling on multiple venues including eBay, Amazon, and an independent eCommerce store. While the store element is free, sellers who wish to list on eBay or Amazon pay a $10 monthly subscription plus 1.95% on sales up to $1,000 and 1% on sales over $25,000.

The Vendio Stores beta is currently open to new Vendio sellers with a public release in a few weeks.

Vendio Stores - The Honest Truth from MJM Covers And Postcards, 11 July 2009
Posted by: coverkid1 Newbie

I just signed up for the free store and am not impressed with the features. Setting up shipping is very time consuming and is limited. Since I sell postcards, there's no way to state the weight and charge accordingly. The terminology/instructions is somewhat confusing. Errors are frequent with Internet Explorer 8, but also the html editor doesn't work with Apples Safari. After adding a few products by using Safari, I noted the software at least on my end doesn't allow the Google Checkout button. I don't know if copy and paste effexcted the code, but this shouldn't happen. Otherwise, the free tools are suitable for the account. Software/Vendio store will show buyers items are out of stock. Inventory is goofy since it sometimes errors and shows none or several items you don't have in stock. However, I found the software does work on the buyers end.

What I don't like is Vendio trying to get people to buy into a service plan to fix issues which to me our their fault for one not making it as simple for non technical people.

You also can have only two levels of categories, but not three. Nor can your buyers do advance searches.

i use auctiva Commerce for my store and like that it's easy to list things quicker than the free vendio Stpre. However, the checkout system by vendio is very nice. Just wish someone could take the strengths of these two sales channels vs. teasing sellers with "half-completed" products.

Support has been somewhat helpful at Vendio, but they don't really respond until you send them multiple e-mails or state one is ready to cancel an account. This is pretty much a sad trend with e-commerce companies.

I'm not saying Vendio Stores are bad for all products. But, right now I don't recommend it if your going to sell items of different weights under 1 pound.

in closing, all of these companies should fix the errors before driving the public nuts.
