Auctiva Kills Free Services Following eBay Changes, Vendio Steps In With Offer

Auction management solution provider Auctiva will begin charging for its auction management features in July this year.

The news follows changes to the eBay Partner Network affiliate program, which now prohibit generating commissions by providing tools to eBay sellers. Although Auctiva's tools were free, affiliate commissions derived from sellers who also bought on eBay were a major source of income that made the business viable.

Competitor Vendio has announced a special offer for Auctiva subscribers: the Vendio Platform will be completely free for Auctiva subscribers until the end of the year, and will cost a flat fee of $10 per month for the whole of 2010. The Vendio Platform supports eBay and Amazon, and includes a free web store. It normally costs $10 per month plus final-value fees for marketplace sales.

Auctiva launched its free web-based services for eBay sellers in July 2005, following a long history as a provider of desktop eBay selling tools. The free service proved extremely popular with eBay sellers, gaining over one million users.

Selected Auctiva services such as the scrolling gallery and auto-marketing emails will continue to be free. The new pricing plans have a combination of monthly, listing, and final-value fees.

Auctiva Services Are NOT Ready For Fee Based Prime-Time, 1 June 2009
Posted by: mgf5N4YGQ51lc8B Newbie

Aside from thier 5 clicks for one function, their html rendering is moody and chaotically inconsistent (it ignores the component templates and then shofts, moves, re-fonts and re-colors at the final listing step). It costs me hours to fix this for each post.

PAYING for that heartache is DOA!

I'm looking elsewhere.

I think I will go back to hosting my own images.
Will only cost me $4.95 for unlimited images and web hosting having already got several domain names.

RIP Auctiva shame you got greedy.

Thanks for screwing the ebay user again eBay, 21 June 2009

Not only is eBay happy to just screw over their own account sellers and buyers mostly the sellers they now are maniacal and stupid enough now they have a taste for it and since no one has stood up to eBay they now think it's ok to go after other off eBay companies and screw them over and royally cheese off their members.
eBay basically were either trying to force Auctiva into liquidation or bankruptcy or make their customer base disappear.
WHY?
I reckon eBay are after buying out or getting rid of Auctiva, and if Auctiva won't sell eBay are happy to ruin them or try to.
I hope Auctiva kicks eBay in the proverbial footballs.
Unfortunally to stay doing their thing Auctiva have been forced to charge a monthly amount now. So I give them Auctiva 6 to 9 monnths and if eBay don't cough cough come to the recuse and buy Auctiva up on the cheap as a failing business (which they eBay caused) then Auctiva will be another good company that just disappeared off the internet and every now and again will be mentioned by eBay users who say to one another do you remember that really good company that used to let you make all your auction listing for free and was fun to use!
