Auction management solution provider Auctiva will begin charging for its auction management features in July this year.
The news follows changes to the eBay Partner Network affiliate program, which now prohibit generating commissions by providing tools to eBay sellers. Although Auctiva's tools were free, affiliate commissions derived from sellers who also bought on eBay were a major source of income that made the business viable.
Competitor Vendio has announced a special offer for Auctiva subscribers: the Vendio Platform will be completely free for Auctiva subscribers until the end of the year, and will cost a flat fee of $10 per month for the whole of 2010. The Vendio Platform supports eBay and Amazon, and includes a free web store. It normally costs $10 per month plus final-value fees for marketplace sales.

Auctiva launched its free web-based services for eBay sellers in July 2005, following a long history as a provider of desktop eBay selling tools. The free service proved extremely popular with eBay sellers, gaining over one million users.
Selected Auctiva services such as the scrolling gallery and auto-marketing emails will continue to be free. The new pricing plans have a combination of monthly, listing, and final-value fees.
