Nice Software with some drawbacks......, 29 July 2007

Reviewer: maryelens Junior Member

No connectivity with PayPal. Has been over a year since the last major update, and interface is unattractive. Only plain text fonts available in the messages to buyers. Generated HTML in all auction pages includes multiple references to AuctionWizard 2000 - with no way to remove them from the page formats.

However, the software is a very solid platform that just doesn't crash, If you are looking for plain, simple and reliable, and do not mind that your auction pages will refer back to Auction Wizard 2000, this is the software to get as a starter.

I have used UW2K. I have no connection with this or any other ebay software vendor.

Used it for years, ABSOLUTELY ENDORSE IT!, 7 April 2007

Reviewer: STC Junior Member

I have nothing but absolutely the best things to say about this product and the tech support. You can absolutely count on this company to help resolve a user error in a pinch. AND the product is rich with the most important time-saving tools available. I love the fact I can do 100% of my listing work off line and then when it is time to list, I find a hotspot and click a button and it does the rest in VERY SHORT TIME! I also love the automated invoicing, second notices, feedback left and other emails! I am an eBay Education Specialist, eBay Selling Assistant, an eBay Voices member, have been published in the new 'eBay Success Chronicles' book by Angela Adams, and AW2K is simply the backbone to ALL of my eBay work.

I don't work for AW2K, have never met the publisher and do not get a referral bonus for this review.

I unreservedly recommend this product to any skill level of eBay user. It's easy to get it going, and as you learn more about work 'needs' within your eBay selling, you'll find that there are tools already built into AW2K you didn't know you would need. Such as a huge collection of tax reports, the ability to easily find if you do not have an inventory item currently listed (because you already sold out the quantity you posted).

It shows your eBay fees charged for each listing.

It has CONSIGNMENT built in!

I really love this product and am giving this sincere glowing report because f the wonderful help the people at AW2K have given me through the years.

Want to host your own pictures for FREE? You just load the picture into AW2K, tell it ONCE where you want to host your pictures, and AW2K will resize (if you wish) your photos (so they have an aesthetically pleasing uniformity) and then upload them to where you want to host them! (There are many free sites out there), so you don't have to pay eBay for the extra pictures.

Auction Wizard a good system, 27 September 2006

Reviewer: dahuber Junior Member

I've been using AW2K for just over a year now (just renewed my licence). I was a bit disheartened for a while over the program as it seemed that the developers were letting it slowly die.

Now that they have converted it to the Ebay API, it is soooo much faster and will no longer have the issues of having to be updated everytime Ebay changes a screen layout.

Having tried many many desktop and web-based applications, AW2K is in my opinion one of the most stable and well rounded apps available. Others have commented about the clunky or out of date interface. Once you're used to the interface, you don't even think about it anymore, except when you keep finding more and more features hidden away that you didn't know existed. Even after a year of using it I'm still finding new things and better ways to do old things.

The reason for 4 stars?

Like all apps I've tried, there are quite a few things that could use improving. The auction templating system is woefully out of date and needs an overhaul. The built in email system is antiquated and really needs to be able to accept html/mime emails. The reporting is adequate, but the custom reports aren't all that configurable. BUT you can easily link the paradox database into Access to create any kind of report you want - if so inclined.

Support is outstanding. Thom (who I think may be the only one behind this software) is amazing. He doesn't appear to sleep and answers support questions often in minutes. And unlike some of the other companies who shall remain nameless, he actually has an answer to the problem rather then blaming it on the user.

Since everyone's Ebay business runs differently, this software isn't for everyone. But it's the best I have found and for all of it's shortcomings, the feature list and price far outweighs any issues imho.

Deceptively comprehensive and sophisticated, 16 August 2006

Reviewer: jmcafee Junior Member

Overview: AW2K came out the clear winner of 20 desktop management programs I evaluated over a 2 month periord. I technically give it 4.5 stars.

The depth and sophistication of this package astounds me. It is so very well thought out, from A to Z, of what a seller does and SHOULD do. The interface is simple and polished, and generally logical. Behind this mild mannered facade is a robust and compehensive package.

Positives: Invoicing, emails, general ledger, and auction lots are all linked to a specific buyer. It guides you through logical steps in creating inventory, creating auction lots, listing, updating status, invoicing, emailing (6 or more automated types ranging from You Won, to Please Pay Me, to Need Your Feedback, and Feedback has been left), ability to extract to an invoice from emails the payer names & addresses and other details. You can customize feedback messages, listing templates, automated emails and much more. You can have multiple UserIDs and auction sites. Best part: you have 60 days to try it out for free. All of this is unprecidented.

Negatives: The listing templates are clean and simple, but not particularly sophisticated or glitzy. Also, these are stored in a database, rather than a simple HTML file (though you can still use custom HTML coding), making customization and sophistication more challenging. The user interface is utilitarian (try Marketblast for a very pretty interface). I ultimately decided the program functionality and automation features vastly outweighed the simple templates and utilitarian interface. Finally, it is relatively expensive. There are recurring yearly licensing fees that really bug me big time -- just charge me once and forget about it.

Summary: One of the most complete and comprehensive All-In-One packages available for auction management. Not the most pretty user interface -- just the best back end functionality to make you the most money and save time.

Great foundation, but...., 4 May 2006

Reviewer: bdjolie Star Member

It has an awesome foundation and great pricing structure! However, it is a little slow in keeping up with the times and is not the prettiest software to work with. I felt like I was working with a fancy spreedsheet more than an actual user-friendly software. Although I agree with all the previous "dinosaur" reviews, it is good software if you can work with its limitations and benefit from its assets like mulitple User IDs and auction sites. The only other software that has a solid foundation is Marketblast.
