Shopster Stinks - That's the truth, 27 January 2009

Reviewer: moliere Junior Member

If you looking to make money, don't use shopster.

Ok, it's true they have a lot of products and they take care of everything - That's good. But sometimes their system is down for hours and customers can buy the products. And it's not just once - sometimes it's every saturday and sundays.

You can not make with shopter - why? the profit margin is too small. I sold $ 30000 of products - and I actually lost money in marketing.

And guess what - alot of stores and even their best stores - just quit after realizing that money can't be made.

I had 2 stores - I sold thousands and thousands of dollars of merchandises and I lost money - It's a waste of time

Irrespect privacy and charge-as-they-like policy, 14 November 2008

Reviewer: csjohnny Junior Member

I subscribed to Shopster on Oct 2006. After working for 6 months, as I am not able to earn a profile, so I decided not to continue spending time and effort on it. Even though there is 6 months left before the contract period or subscription period expires, I didn't ask for a refund.

But 2 years later, in my credit card statement, I found a transaction from Shopster charging me for USD329.99. I am surprised. Then I review my credit card statement one year ago (Oct 2007). Very surprisingly, there is another transaction USD 329.99. That means Shopster continuously charge me for two other years even though I never renew my service and never ask my credit card information. How can you store my credit card information and charge me without having my agreement!!! I couldn't imagine Shopster didn't respect customer's privacy by storing credit card information. And charge me without a written notice to me. I have never seem this non-sense behavior in my life.

worst decision I ever made, 13 April 2008

Reviewer: Billnonymous Junior Member

Their "wholesale prices" *before* you sign up are not the wholesale prices *after* you sign up, they jack up the pricing on all of their items by 3.9%. They also advertised that you got to keep the difference between the sell price and the product cost but they wound up subtracting 3.5% from ALL of my profits! They don't tell you that until **after** you've paid a nonrefundable fee for their service. I had to file a complaint with the BBB to get Shopster to change their Agreement and get my profits back. Shopster admitted to the BBB that they had "overlooked some discrepancies" in their Agreement. If you believe that, then you'll fit right in over at Shopster, know what I mean?

Their shipping prices are extremely erratic and if a customer takes advantage of a bad shipping price, Shopster just cancels the order. They've done this to me. Shopster also admits that they adjust the shipping prices even though they don't own nor actually ship anything!? When I questioned support about the extremely low ship price of a large HDTV, they said they'll check with the supplier *after* one is ordered and change the shipping price then if it needs to be. God as my witness that is the answer I got.

Their inventory numbers were also very erratic, what had hundreds in stock one day was "Discontinued" the next, what costs $300 one day, costs $315 the next, I gave up complaining to support about it because nothing ever changed. Suppliers can disappear in an instant, so if you've set up your store using a supplier's line and they pull out of Shopster, you wake up to a store with no items for sale.

There are literally a host of other problems but I digress. If they had an honestly written Agreement and used honest advertising I never would have signed up.

Also, most of Shospter's items have a *wholesale* price that is *higher* than most stores' *retail* price! For example, a coffee pot Shopster charges you $40 for costs only $22 in most stores.

Caveat Emptor

Very Low Profits, Poor Inventory Control, Bad Search Engine Optimization, High Wholesale Prices, 25 January 2008

Reviewer: Shawn Junior Member

Shopster is not search engine friendly so you will have a very hard time getting customers. If you visit and analyze their model estores and look at the page's source, you can see what I mean. You cannot control the description, metatags, url, page titles. This leads to very low rankings on search engines.

Shopster also marks up the "wholesale" price of the products so much that you hardly earn a profilt when you do sell something. You also have to pay a monthly fee to keep the store open so if you sell nothing you still have to pay! Also their inventory is not always correct!

Shopster has also been trying to encourage people to use Ebay to sell their products. You can't make money on ebay through shopster because shopster has a very high wholesale price. So after you pay your listing fee, final value fee, and paypal fees, you end up with nothing or you even lose money! You barely make a 5% profit on your own shopster store so this 5% goes to pay ebay and paypal!

Another big problem is Shopster doesn't keep their inventory up to date. So if you auction off a product that ends up out of stock, you lose the sale, piss off the customer, get a negative feedback, and get reported to eBay for violating their rules. Ebay doesn't allow seller to back order sales so you can get your account suspended!

Tired of the false information, 10 September 2007

Reviewer: BillG Junior Member

Recently I told a friend about Shopster and they sent me a link to this site, saying they didn't want to try it. I think that Shopster is a fantastic service, unmatched in the world and would love to see my friends succeed in using it.

I think that people will have different opinions but some are just spreading misinformation. I've been with Shopster for OVER 1.5 years now and my issue with the above comment is that it is likely a lie but worded to sound real. Why do I think so?

Because 1.5 years ago - when "mortgagelady" started her site allegedly - Shopster was in beta testing. I know because i had an account. The thing about beta testing is that ALL users got an account for FREE, and FREE FOR LIFE as a thank you for testing from the company.

Now if you had a FREE account would you close it?

When you look up Shopster on Google you find all these other ads, slander the Shopster name and other companies trying to live off the brand name of Shopster. The internet is a great place for free speech, but how do you stop the lies and parasites?

My experience with Shopster has been great. Shopster is a unique business opportunity, you get to try it for free, don't let someone with an alternative agenda stop you from checking it out yourself.
