Overall Good - albeit a few Annoying Features., 7 July 2008
Reviewer:
BetterBusinessElectronics.com
I've used Terapeak for a couple of years and have really liked the information.
It used to be well laid out and had a user interface that crushed HammerTap's garbage UI.
In the spring of 2008, however, Terapeak rolled out a new user interface that disabled a number of features and frankly skewed the data bad enough that I use them only for limited, focused research instead of broad, browsing research.
Examples include the Categories graph/chart has lost it's links to drill-down into deeper data the Categories left-menu tree now shows sub-categories with a Total Listings value rather than the Total Sold value the sort-by End Price is often inaccurate, resulting in a jumble of non-sorted results and the premium Hot Research is limited and lacking punch.
I do like the new Date Range selector and the higher Saved Search Query limitation.
Support is clearly overloaded, with the development team able to resolve serious issues in terms of months, but at least they seem to be trying.
Overall, I still prefer Terapeak (certainly over the over-rated HammerTap service), but disappointed in the design changes introduced in early 2008.

    Great software, 11 September 2007
Reviewer:

I feel obligated to post a good review of this software because it has been so helpful. The staff is also very professional. I originally opted for a trial, which I did NOT cancel in time. I was billed, and rightfully so. So I contacted them saying it was a mistake, which they replied to (me not expecting it either) NO PROBLEM! They send the charge back. Now I'm a paying customer, and believe me... it's pricey. But this is what you need if you want to take this seriously.
Now for the Terapeak staff that are reading this
How bout storing all of your licensed data for an ultra premium service? Being able to go back through a whole year of auctions would be VERY useful. For instance right now I want to see th market for halloween costumes, but I can't REALLy see the market until this year is done with =(
Otherwise I can't fault Terapeak on anything other than price... damn it hurts... but what can you do exept use a service which delivers at 70%?

Lots of data, though somewhat confusing, 28 August 2007
Reviewer:

If you love data, reams of it, then Terapeak is for you. It can tell you the price on the day in the category, etc. The US market is free (international sites at a price) and online with no software to install.
But the interface is a bit confusing and takes some learning. Even getting to the research page from the home page takes some digging. For the newbie, the mountains of data could be pretty overwhelming, especially without understand what the data means.

Pretty Good But Costs Money..., 11 March 2007

Terapeak is not bad considering the fees.
It is so easy to use! Although there is absolutely no learning curve, they still provide a quick and easy to follow help page with screen prints.
All you have to do is type in your search term(s), select one or all categories, choose 1, 7, 30 days of data, and/or end day. Results appear within a few seconds. The research is based on closed listings, seller IDs, and categories. You have the option to save your searches.
To make better use of the raw data and figure out your selling strategy, I recommend you go even further by using their Search filters (price ranges, listing durations, listing types, listing promotions, time of day).
Another great option is their Hot Items Search filters (average price, total sales, total listings, total sold listings, total bids, average price, sell-through %, bids per listing). You can sort the data anywhere from 14 days - 2 years, and group it by day or 7 days.
They offer workshops on eBay to help you understand and use the raw data. Also, they were very prompt and courteous in responding to my emails.
DRAWBACKS
- Seriously lacking data and suggestions for potential keywords!
- The only preference changes you can make are the defaults for 1, 7, or 30 day search and the look and feel of the tool. I don't care what color the tool looks like, I just care about the data.
- All search results are done in PST.
- It looks like they are planning to research other eBay selling platforms, but for now, all you can research is the USA platform.
